Dr. Bogdan State

Bogdan joined Vibrant Planet after running scie.nz, a small data consultancy, and developing aorist, a data engineering library for machine learning applications. Prior to scie.nz Bogdan spent 7 years working on the Facebook Core Data Science team. At Facebook, Bogdan was responsible for the implementation and delivery of several large software systems using advanced machine learning techniques, with scopes ranging from spam detection, business intelligence, data management and high-stakes analytics. Bogdan holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and M.S. in Computer Science, both from Stanford University, as well as a B.A. in History and Sociology from Amherst College. He has authored of 18 peer-reviewed publications in Computational Social Science, as well as 14 patents and patent applications. At Vibrant Planet he is excited to dive into environmental science, while bringing his skills in dealing with large, complicated datasets to the climate problem.
